Leadership
The Journey sees everyone as being a minister to each other and the culture around us. There is not a hierarchy at The Journey. We do have multiple pastors and Care Ministers who humbly serve, but everyone at The Journey is equal in serving each other.
Our Leadership:
We believe that every follower of Jesus is called by God to minister in real and practical ways to both those within the community and outside of the community. We do not see a special calling for those who would help lead the church. We believe that every believer is equal in Jesus Christ and is given abilities and gifts unique to them in order to serve the church and the world. We believe that when we come together, we are responsible to help care for one another through our talents and personalities. Our uniqueness is best seen in conjunction with other people in community, as we bring Christ's love to the world. Finally, every Christ follower is to submit to one another, as Jesus submitted himself to the Father. All followers of Christ together, regardless of office, title or position within the church, are to work in love and humility, following the example of Jesus Christ. ...read more
Pastoral Team:
The Journey believes in the concept of shared leadership in every aspect our community, including the pastoral team. We do not have a "senior" or "lead" pastor. Instead, we believe a group of loving, wise men and women together care for and lead the community.

Gender Equality:
The Journey believes in gender equality in leadership. Our pastoral team has no senior pastor, but instead we view the pastoral team to be a mix of wise and humble men and women who serve the church together. We do not believe in a hierarchy (see "No 'The' before ministry or minister" in The Journey Glossary here). So also we do not believe in a hierarchy in terms of gender. We do not label people by generalities, but instead see people as individuals with unique personalities, passions, and talents. Because of this, we see both men and women equally having the opportunity to wisely serve God's people as pastors or serve as Care Ministers (deacons).
